When the students at St. Joseph’s Villa returned to school September 7th, they were delighted to visit a beautiful new Library and Media Center created through a generous alliance with the law firm of ChamberlainD’Amanda.

The library serves 90 boys and girls in the Villa’s residential program who live on the agency’s main campus and attend the Villa school during the day. Its purpose is to help Villa students discover the joy of reading, which contributes to greater academic success and improves their chances to achieve a positive future.

ChamberlainD’Amanda has been serving Rochester for over 125 years by doing what’s right for the community,” said Edward C. Radin, Managing Partner, ChamberlainD’Amanda. “This library and media center is one more example of our firm’s commitment to some of Rochester’s at-risk children.“

The library inspires teen students to read with books that appeal to their interests and support the school’s curriculum. “We appreciated the opportunity to work with the Villa on a project that will have a lasting impact on children who are working to overcome serious challenges in their lives. This project was ideal for us because we believe in the power of reading and that all children can succeed if given the opportunity and support,” said Radin.

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw the library,” said Laura, 13, a 7th grader at the Villa’s Campus School, who was proud to be the first student to sign out a book.

“I’m very excited to have this library available to our students,” said Stuart Weiss, Villa Campus School Principal. “So many Villa kids have been slow readers, have looked upon reading as a chore, or have had limited exposure to books. This is a real chance for them to discover books they love. Reading opens doors to success, and that’s just what this library will do for Villa kids.”

“Supporting kids in crisis is making a stake in the future
of our community,” said Roger C. Battaglia, St. Joseph’s
Villa President/CEO.
